The WindGuard range wouldn’t be complete without a solution for shades that are placed on a solid substrate like concrete or bitumen. Traditionally these structures have been held down by a range of weights, both solid and fillable with liquids. The problem with these types of weight systems is that they are bulky, heavy and impractical in scenarios where space is at a premium. In some situations, such as beach front night markets, the organisers have been disrupted by the wind so many times that stallholders now must weight down all structures with 30 kgs of weight at each corner. That’s a total of 120kg of weight that needs to be moved in and out during setup and pull down.
The WindGuardian can give up to 20kg of weight so two of them placed at each corner gives up to 40kg when filled with sand and water. The main advantage is that each WindGuard weighs only 300g when emptied and when rolled up takes up about as much space as a mobile phone. It sits easily on top of the WindGuard anchor plate and multiple WindGuards can be linked together and even stacked on top of each other to give even more weight.
Whilst the WindGuardian can weigh up to 20kg the other advantage over other weight systems is that the weight may be varied to suit prevailing conditions. If it is a very calm day with light winds forecast the WindGuard can be filled with water to give up to 10kg of weight. You can start the day with a sand base in the WindGuard and simply unclip and add water to increase weight as the wind increases. The entire top of the WindGuardian opens up to allow for easy and quick filling and emptying of the enclosed contents.
Bulky weights take up valuable storage room that could be better utilised for stock and stall fittings. They are also very heavy and are notoriously dangerous to fingers and toes when being stored and transported. The WindGuardian releases this space for storage and makes the task of setup and pack up much easier, quicker and safer.
